Treasure Party

Now is a good time of year to clean up your sewing room. You probably have more stuff than space. Talk with some of your crafting, quilting, knitting, sewing and embroidering friends and set a date for a Treasure Party.

Each guest brings with her all those things that are too good to throw away, but for which there is no need. This may include duplicate tools received as gifts or purchased when the original could not be found, a pile of test stitch-outs, fabric that was too beautiful to resist or was left over from a completed project, UFOs (unfinished projects) that the intended recipient has outgrown (the baby quilt started for your nephew who is now going off to college). Place related items in zip-seal bags (supplies and instructions for a project or a collection of odd buttons). Have a table for each category of items.

Take turns selecting from the items. Only take what your really think you will be able to use. Whatever is left over can be donated to a senior center, girl scout troop, quilt guild or local thrift shop. You will have purged your sewing room of clutter and everyone will have a few new "treasures".

100/16 needle. Loosen upper tension until
stitch is even. Avoid last thread guide
before needle. Shorten stitch length.

a set and keep it on hand
ready for gift giving.

either a single needle or a small
(1.6 or 2.0) twin needle.
