Making a Back-Up CD |
|
It is always wise to make back-up copies of anything on your hard drive. You can also make a copy of a CD (check the fine print on the CD or CD insert to be sure it is allowed). The exact steps to make a copy will depend upon your CD burner software, but there are two methods. If you have lots of space on your hard drive, copy the CD to a folder on your hard drive, then copy the contents of that folder to a CD. Another method is to place the original CD in your CD burner, tell the software that you want to make a copy, then it will copy the CD to a temporary file. You then place a blank CD in the CD burner, and a new copy is made. Again, this requires space on your hard drive, but it is space reserved for temporary files. If your hard drive is really full, you can copy the CD to an external drive or a thumb drive or other external storage media, then copy from there to a new CD. Store back-up CDs in a safe place, such as a fire-proof safe, a safety deposit box, your spouse's workplace or a neighbor's house. Next issue: Egyptian cotton |
