Fibrous Water-Soluble Stabilizer |
|
This type of water-soluble stabilizer is called Wet N Gone® by the Floriani Company and an apt name it is. Not all fibrous water-soluble stabilizers are created equal. Some will require 1 layer and others will require more. Some wash away in seconds in cool water, others require longer and hot water. This particular type of water-soluble stabilizer offers greater stability then the plastic kinds. It doesn’t stretch in the hoop. It isn’t affected by heat or humidity. One single layer of most fibrous water-soluble stabilizers are,
on average, recommended to hold 10,000 to 12,000 stitches per hooping. The Wet N Gone is recommended to hold up to
15,000 stitches, but I’ve been known to stitch pieces that had above
30,000 stitches in one hooping. Of course, I can’t vouch that it will work every time as both the digitizing of the design and the tension setting on the machine have a big impact on the success of the stitch out as well as the stabilizer itself. Next issue: fusible and tacky |
