Tension and Water Soluble-Stabilizer |
|
I've heard statements of this kind many, many times: "I was told not to mess with the tension settings on my machine at all. It's been set as it should be from the get go and everything else is supposed to adjust as needed." Is that statement familiar to you? Well, the tension settings on our machines are for regular embroidery. When reading most of the instruction manuals that come with our machines, we can find that a proper tension setting calls for one third of bobbin thread showing on the back of the embroidery for two thirds of top thread on a column of satin stitches. But what happens when we are stitching lace? The settings, in most cases,
can't be the same because of the type of stitches used. Lace is about mixing different types of stitches to create an ensemble. If no particular instructions for the lace design you've purchased have been included, take a few minutes to ask the designer what steps should be taken to obtain the best stitch out possible.
