Embroidery can be combined with other embellishing techniques for surprising results. Embroider hand-dyed or painted fabric to create a custom look. Frame your embroidery design with lace or decorative trim or use the fancy stitches built into your sewing machine. Fill in a redwork design with crayons or fabric paint. Use those buttons that look like flowers, toys, sewing notions, or animals (you couldn't resist buying them but you've been wondering how to use them) to embellish and complement the design. Add crystals for a little bling, seed pearls for an elegant accent, or miniature lights just for fun.
