Variegated Thread |
|
You've seen those pretty spools of
thread that have a mix of colors. Variegated thread starts as one color,
then changes to a different color. Some have three or more colors, and
some go back and forth between two shades of the same color. If you have
tried to use variegated thread for a filled area in a design, you ended
up with a striped look. Most of the time, that is not what you want. But
a striped look can be perfect for a rainbow trout, rainbow sherbet,
shirt, planet or curtains. Variegated thread is also interesting for
redwork designs, as long as all the colors contrast sufficiently with
the fabric (see below).
