That New Baby! |
|
Babies need so many things, it is fun
to embroider up a storm! Ask the mother if she has a theme and color
scheme for the nursery. There are so many cute designs out there, you
are sure to find the perfect match. By using the same thread colors for
different designs, you can create coordinating nursery items. For a
newborn, instead of embroidering clothing that could irritate delicate
skin, embroider bibs, burp cloths, blanket corners, or a crib bumper
bad. For bibs and burps, use small designs in a corner so that most of
the surface is still soft and absorbent. Redwork or quilting designs are
also good choices. Larger filled designs can be used for a wall hanging
or diaper bag.
If you prefer heirloom work, ask the mother if she would like a christening gown or bonnet. Try an in-the-hoop toy that is baby safe (no buttons or ribbons that can be pulled off). If there is an older child, embroider a "Big Brother" or "Big Sister" shirt so everyone feels special! Next issue: embroidered soap from Mary Jane Allen of Perfect Little Stitches |
