If you want to raise money for your
favorite cause, consider selling embroidered items. Check to be sure the
design you want to use can be embroidered on items for sale. Most
designers will include this information in the copyright statement, but
you can always check with the designer to be sure.
What to embroider? Start with a bargain. Can you buy 100 t-shirts for $2.00 each? Did someone donate 6 yards of fabric? The less you invest in materials, the more profit for your charity. Top sellers are t-shirts, hats, totes, baby bibs, key fobs and toys. Look for a design that stitches quickly, especially for items that will sell for $15.00 or less. Single-color designs may look boring, but ad some lettering and you will have a professional-looking product. Maximize your time to maximize your profit. Think outside the box. If you are raising money for an animal shelter, try selling items that will also appeal to those who do not have pets. Where I live, everyone loves crabs, so a hat with an embroidered crab is a sure hit. If you live in Florida, a pink flamingo or other beach designs would sell well. Choose colors that will appeal to men and women. Next issue: every girl likes flowers from Mary Jane Allen of Perfect Little Stitches |
