Mega Hoops |
|
Do you have a large hoop, the kind
that has two positions or that you turn around to attach on the opposite
side? Some examples are the Pfaff Big Hoop, The Pfaff Grand Hoop, the
Viking Mega Hoop, the Viking Plus Hoop, the Janome Giga Hoop, the Janome
Macro Hoop, the Brother Jumbo Hoop and the Giant Hoop It All. These
hoops all use a split design.
It’s important to know that in order to use these hoops, the designs you use with them need to be split to fit the particular hoop. For example, if your machine’s largest field is 4x4, and you’ve purchased a larger hoop for your machine, each section of a larger design needs to be split to fit into a 4x4 section. When using a split design, one section is sewn, the hoop is repositioned and the next section is sewn. Buying a larger hoop does not mean your 4x4 field machine will magically sew out a 5x7 design. Lots of designs can be split successfully if you have the software and ability. Some appliqué and in the hoop designs are difficult, if not impossible, to split. When in doubt, ask before you buy an extra-large design. Be sure to specify the name of the hoop you want to use, and the size of your machine's embroidery field. Ask if a split version is available or if they feel the design can be split to fit your hoop. Next issue: multi-hooping from Reen Wilcoxson of Embroidery Garden |
